You can tell when someone’s known the fight,
their eyes hold both the dark and light.
They’ve bitten tongues till dreams bled dry,
and learned to laugh instead of cry.
They’ve held it in when pay was late,
worked through pain, through loss, through hate.
Been blamed for things they didn’t do,
and thanked by none who made it through.
They’ve loved and lost, been left, been used,
been cheered, been mocked, been both confused.
They’ve seen the truth behind success
that peace don’t come from more or less.
They’ve buried friends, outlived their trust,
built empires that turned to dust.
And still they rise, without applause,
still showing up, still fighting cause.
No crown, no rest, no grand allure,
just quiet hearts that still endure.
